I have been trained as a teacher and worked in the public school system in Denmark. I have trained refugees from Apartheid Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). I have worked as a Project Leader in Africa. I have been the headmaster of Frontline Institute for 10 years training African and European students to carry out development work in Africa. I have been the director of a Teacher Training College in Denmark for 5 years. I have traveled to India by bus from Denmark 3 times. I have traveled and worked in China, Europe, Africa, America and the Caribbean.
Else Marie Pedersen

I have worked in promotion for Humana People to People for 15 years in Europe. Before that I studied in Denmark and traveled all over the world. I have visited 10 countries in Africa and have been to several Humana People to People projects. I have met and seen Development Instructors in action as well as Poverty Fighters in Brazil. Jorge Ruto

I was working with TCE (Total Control of the Epidemic) with Humana People to People in Nozambique for three years. Before that I worked at a UN interpretetor in Mozambique and South Africa because I speak 7 languages (Portuguese, English, Ndau, Shona, Ndebele, Zulu and Xhossa). I am teaching in Portuguese for the Development Instructors here at IICD and give various courses about African history and culture. I am very pleased to be here in the United States and I am looking forward to meeting you!

I have worked at IICD for 6 years as an accountant. I also run a snowshoe business from home. I enjoy working at IICD because of the many different people that I meet and work with on a daily basis. It has opened my eyes to seeing new countries and cultures through personal travels.
Chris Phillips

I come from California. Was a Development Instructor last year in Zambia. Was very happy about the program so I decided to become a team leader for a team going to Africa. I have my hands full with a team of 17 from all over the World. It is a challenge but definetely not boring! I hope to meet you here at IICD.

I joined a team for Zambia and decided to take on the responsibility to be a team leader for the Brazil "Fighting with the Poor Team" when I returned. Prior to this I was studying at college in Chicago. I felt called for a more direct action field so I commited to a two year period at IICD as a teamleader and I am learning new things every single day!

I took part in the December 2005 team and went to Mozambique to work in TCE (Total control of the epidemic). I completed the program in Mozambque and returned to the US to work for a couple of years in various jobs. I then decided to return to IICD for a 2 year period. I am doing my Masters degree in education along with teaching.
Candice McKenley

I am a Texan. Arrived here at IICD last year. Joined an Africa team but ended up going to Ecuador instead. Now I am back at IICD. Along with being a teamleader I am working on starting up our garden farming with organic vegetables. I did this in Belize and I wanted to use my experiences here at IICD. Come and join me on the farm!
The devastation of HIV/AIDS can be seen everywhere. The epidemic has torn the fabric of society. Members for the HOPE program will work with the people of Angola in the fight against the spread of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Education is the key to development work, In order to create long-term benefits for the people of Angola, education must be a priority.
