  1. You send the answers to the application form, we answer any questions you might have and schedule a phone interview.

  2. We will invite you for an Information meeting or a Preparatory weekend.

During the meeting you will learn more about the training period, the international period, and follow-up period. This is not only your opportunity to experience IICD, but also a chance for IICD to learn more about you and to qualify you to become a Development Instructor. You will have a personal meeting with an IICD staff member to discuss the demands of the program, address any remaining questions you may have, review the enrollment contract, and help you solve any problems, which might be in your way to enroll, such as financial concerns or difficulties. At the end of the information meeting or Preparatory weekend you can reserve your spot on the team by paying an enrollment fee of $350. The enrollment fee is non-refundable. You can also enroll over the phone – after having had a couple of phone interviews, talked with a present and former volunteer.
  3. Prepare yourself for the challenges and experiences awaiting you!

Once enrolled you will receive regular updates about ongoing projects and current teams in your host country. We encourage you to begin your education immediately by familiarizing yourself with the basics about the culture, language, and history of the country and region you will be going to. To that end, a list of country specific resources will be provided upon request. By familiarizing yourself with the host country prior to the start of the program you will further your education once you arrive.
