The Child Aid Project in Cansançao welcomed

The Child Aid Project in Cansançao welcomed 5 Poverty Fighters from IICD Massachusets.  The first two weeks they made interviews with the families and created family  portraits together with two Area Leaders. They reached the goal as it was planed for that period. After that task, they started making a nursery with fruit trees, so that they could grow and be planted by the families in time before the PFs leave.
Each family has received and planted 5 fruit tree seeds and all together about 300 fruit trees were planted in both communities where the PF`s are working in.

The families have accepted the PFs very kindly and the PFs are becoming good friends with the families.
We have organized 5 new English classes in Cansançao city where they teach English twice a week in the evening so that people can learn English and come in contact with different cultures and ideas. People are coming in huge to learn English and now the PFs have altogether 125 English students.

The PFs are now working in food security tasks and they are creating vegetable gardens and rearing chicken together with the families.
Sometimes the PFs participate and contribute new ideas in community meetings where the villagers discuss better way to work together and plan their task together with the area Leaders.
Every Monday morning in the project council meeting, each PF participates, contributes and gives the weekly report about what have done in the past week. This is done in Portuguese.

Twice per week the PFs have Portuguese class with a Brazilian teacher so that they can improve their language skills and communicate easily with people in the communities.

Daniel and Wongyu are the best in Portuguese and Teckea the last one.
The PFs also participate twice per month in common village actions together with all the area leaders and the Project Leader.

Some of the challenges for the Poverty Fighters are to mobilize the families and use the good examples of their families to reach out to the whole community.

Anselmo, Project leader.
